When I was 15 I dated a girl who was 18. She was my first girlfriend, and I thought she was perfect - she hadn't fucked any other guys, liked the same music as me, wasn't into partying, etc. We would just lay around in bed and watch Arrested Development. She went to college, and we continued to date at long distance for a few months. One day in the cafeteria, a friend of mine came up to me and was like "Oh, you should talk to XXXX, he just visited ("girlfriend") at school..."

Turns out that in the two days that he stayed with her, she fucked three different guys. He was sleeping on the floor of her dorm room, but had to keep leaving because he didn't want to hear/watch her get fucked. As I started to investigate this more, the story just kept unraveling, and it turned out she was a serious pathological liar and our entire 3-4 month relationship had been artifice. Like, every single thing about her that I liked wasn't real.

What did I do? Nothing. I just didn't talk to her or ever see her again after that.

I dated a guy for a little over 2 years. Apparently, he had been trying to get the balls to break up with me for over a year, but couldn't do it because he was such a "nice guy." At the end, he decided that the proper way to break up with me would be to start acting like a complete asshole so that I would initiate the breakup, and he could maintain his image as the "nice guy."

Problem: He had just lost his job and been rejected from school. I figured that he was just having a hard time dealing, so I gave him some space and didn't get angry. Two months later, I finally snapped and broke up with him. He was very relieved, "It's about time! I was getting tired of acting like an asshole!"

The next day he told his friends that he broke up with me. I LOL'd.

If those messages only affected you in that they change your shopping habits, we probably wouldn't be having this conversation. But they also make you feel oppressed and cause you to react angrily to perceived sleights against your gender. They probably also affect your social behavior--the knowledge that the media portrays you as a dunce likely causes you try harder than you would otherwise *not* to look like a dunce. Even people self-aware enough to notice the unpleasant messages directed to them and conveyed about them are affected.

I don't go through life trying to live up to Vogue's expectations, but I do get irritated at fashion designers who make clothes for anorexics or obese women but nothing for the fit, curvy lady in between. I don't really worry about being seen as ladylike, but I am hypersensitive to those messages from others.

Best friend from high school and I met this woman a few years ago and we grew very very close. I made promises to her that I will take the blame for breaking and in turn she grew closer to my best friend. My friend being one of the most stand up guys I know and really wanted me and her to be together, then he wound up liking her and started going out with her. I was already depressed from the accident this summer because it took a lot away from me but this really just took the cake in terms of how bad things could have gotten.

Because it's pretty absurd to believe that you're literally drinking blood and eating flesh when it quite clearly tastes, looks, smells like and is entirely indistinguishable from wine and bread. So unless there's some way in which it can literally be blood and flesh without literally being blood and flesh, I think it's pretty clear why they believe it's symbolic and not literal. Is there something obvious that I'm missing here? The only explanation I've heard is that the "essence" of the wine and bread has literally changed, which seems like nothing more than meaningless word-play to me. Really, what am I missing because it's obviously something considering the intensity of the debate in the rest of this thread?

For years, maybe starting around 8 or 9 years old, I would tell my mom that my dad's cigarettes had expired. He would always smoke these "expired cigarettes" with the bad smell behind a closed door. My mom would just nod and say he had to smoke them anyway because he had spent the money on them. This continued for several years. My parents separated around 16 and when I was 20 and someone smoked pot around me, I told them their cigarette had expired. They looked at me like WTF are you talking about? Then explained to me it was marijuana. So that's what my dad was REALLY smoking...

    >They call us over the phone at say 10AM in the morning and not mention anything, next thing I know is that they were meeting at lunch.

So? You weren't included in their lunch plans. Big deal. Why *should* they tell you when you aren't included? Do you get upset when they call you at 10AM and then go have lunch with friends of theirs that you *don't* know? Are they "keeping it a secret" when they do that? Or are you just not part of those plans?

The fact is that people have a social life completely outside of their interaction with you. Just because you happen to know two people who also know each other doesn't mean that they have any reason to inform you every time they do something without you.

What the bankers began the IMF is seeing through. Fucking us all in the a-hole, no lube. I´m from Iceland. If you have any questions I´d be happy to try to answer them. I´m not an economist nor do I have any financial schooling. I have however lived here all my life, bought 3 apartments, (upgrading/downgrading not accumulating) one before the "boom" one during and one nearing the end of the easy money era. I´ll answer truthfully and let you know when I´m not qualified. In those cases I´ll give the layman´s answer.. Big up to Salvia D for submitting.

Being 42 myself, I'm pretty confident about this when I look at the younger generation. I actually think it might be the other way around.

The youngest generations actually seem less technologically competent (of course the geeky population of Reddit is not really representative) because they never had to learn the basics on order to use tech. As a result, they are perfectly at ease with current technology.... until something new comes along that has a learning curve attached to it.

Looking around me, it seems to me people in their 30's and 40's are the most tech savvy. Statistically, they are the early adopters. With older people it varies strongly from person to person, but young people seem technologically clueless beyond pressing buttons.

Cash for Clunkers is an OK idea, but they need to give rebates based on MPG increase between the "clunker" and the trade-in.

Right now an 18 MPG truck could be traded in for a 22 MPG SUV and they get $4,500 just as easily as if it was instead traded in for a Prius. It should be a scale... where +5 MPG gets you $1000 rebate. +10 MPG gets $2,000. +15 MPG gets $3,000. Etc... Up to $5,000. Electric car converstions or sales should automatically get the max, as long it's a switch from gasoline.

That's how I'd do it, or I would tax the shit out of gasoline to fund public transit at the level Europe does.

When my friend was a kid, his parents were trying to ween him off getting out of his bed and going to sleep with them, and he had been having bad dreams and "seeing" things that weren't there because he wasn't quite used to being alone yet, I guess. One night he looked out his window and saw the face of an old man that was wet, dirty, and covered in blood just staring in at him and not blinking. So he ran into his parents room to tell them, and they were obviously dismissive and didn't believe him because he had been doing a lot of this stuff lately. He went back to his room and tries to ignore it almost convinced it isn't real, but he can't handle it so he goes back to his parents, which gets them to go check it out.

Well it turns out the guy was real. He was an Alzheimer sufferer who had wandered away of a nursing home, had fallen into a ditch or puddle causing him to be so wet and dirty, injured his face causing it to be bruised and bloodied, and for some reason made it to their house and was content to just stare in the window.

He says he can still perfectly see the face in his mind, just extremely old, wrinkled, dirty, bloody, and vacant.

All good points, i personaly never use marksman either, however most people seem to be dead set on being a "rouge" archer/thief style, and that is possible to play although not recommended.

Speechcraft is a personal thing, i just use it if i have an open slot, it just makes the npcs alot more easy to work with, especially with mages guild quests etc

conjuration isnt my personal thing, they are to uncontrollable, i prefer to be able to control my powers, may times i have died because of my minions doing stupid things like running 6 miles through tunnels to melee attack and archer on a cliff, leaving me helpless and fighting 3 other melee enemies. i prefer to have the ability to crush them under my feet without being dependent on unreliable npc (minions)

and range magic is **NOT** a "clear victor" they both have advantages and disadvantages, try being a long range caster deep into the close quarters of some dungeons in the later levels... even with conjuration its tricky to pull off where a melee "sword swinger" could power through, its all situational and i prefer the sword swinger eariler levels and i focus on destruction after i master blade so i get the best of both worlds

    >When you can't afford it you can't pay for it, therefore, you have no choice but to do without it.

Then you are choosing to play the helpless victim in your life. We have always had a choice and we recognize that anything we decide to do is the result of their choices.

    >but how long can that last before you sell the shirt off your back and you're homeless?

Most of us manage to get work again before that point. That is the other thing. Yes, COBRA is expensive... because you are now paying the portion that your employer used to pay. But it isn't designed for a lifetime of health care... it is designed to keep you covered while you transition from one job to another, and then until your new coverage kicks in.

Not exactly what my point was.

There are only very specific reasons for someone being naked. Using the bathroom, taking a shower or having sex. Two of those don't add anything of value to a game usually and the last one only if it's done properly (which most developers don't).

Normal people... in any environment... usually wear clothes. They don't walk around in metal bikinis and the girls don't wear different armor than men that shows off their mid sections.

I think if there were more nudity in video games it would just be a gimmick to attract men who just want to see boobies and not something that actually adds something to the plot or environment.

It "could" be used properly... but it never is.
